The Mental Capacity Act can be a difficult topic to grasp and one which can be complex even for experienced support staff and managers. This session takes the principles of the MCA and builds on them gradually and at the pace of the group.

Deprivations of Liberty can naturally follow mental capacity assessments, so we look at how and why DoLS were introduced, what constitutes a deprivation and an overview of the DoLS authorisation process.
