Epilepsy

9.30am – 12.30pm

The frequency of epilepsy occurring in people with a learning disability is higher than the average population and increases in proportion with the severity of the disability.

The knowledge learners gain from this session will enable them to have a better understanding of epilepsy and the appropriate support during and after a seizure.

Session Overview

Defining epilepsy, the different seizures and how to manage these, triggers which may precede a seizure, the treatments used to manage epilepsy, supporting an individual during a seizure and the psychological impact of epilepsy.
