Our Training Team

Dan has been working within the care industry for 7 years. Throughout his time in care, he has held management positions within residential homes as well as supporting living, helping to support adults and children with learning disabilities, epilepsy and other congenital conditions.

During his time at Cavendish care he wanted to further his own development and had the opportunity to become part of the training team and going on to earn his Level 3 in Education and Training. Through his years of involvement within the training team, the opportunity arose for him to move into the position of Learning and Development manager.

“The aim of our training is to give our staff the understanding they require to carry out their roles safely and to the standard which we expect. This training not only embeds vital knowledge for our team members to deliver outstanding service to our clients every day, it also empowers them to introduce new ideas to improve the service we offer, while promoting best practice and our company values.
Those we support are at the heart of all we do, so being able to make a positive impact in their lives, through appropriate training and education for support staff is a highlight of my role.”

Denise became aware of Cavendish Care when working as a fulltime teaching assistant at a local school in Crawley. She felt that Cavendish Care would be both interesting and rewarding as a profession. Denise therefore joined Cavendish Care in September 1999 as a part time Support Worker at Chippings. Due to ongoing work commitments outside Cavendish Care, Denise left Chippings in 2001. However having enjoyed her role within this house she decided to leave the teaching assistant role and returned to Chippings as a Full Time Support Worker three years later.

While working at this house Denise completed her NVQ level in Health and Social Care. She then took on the responsibility of “in house” Medication Officer, ensuring that the medication was being managed and administered appropriately. To develop her knowledge further, Denise also completed Advanced Medication training and Medication Competency training through Opus Pharmacy Services. Denise’s responsibilities began to expand as the company grew, and as a result, Denise’s role also developed. She began visiting other homes within Cavendish Care , providing staff guidance and support and liaising with health professionals involved in the clients and tenants health and wellbeing.

In 2010 Denise was offered the opportunity to diversify from her role as a Support Worker and take up the fulltime position of Healthcare Co-ordinator. This enabled her to visit the homes within Cavendish Care on a more regular basis ensuring the highest of quality of support in all areas of health.

Dan has a BSc. (Hons) in Psychology and has worked in the field of Autism, learning disabilities and challenging behaviour since 2008, his previous roles have included being a teaching assistant, support worker and residential care support worker.

In 2012 he became deputy manager of the Positive Behaviour Support department at The Loddon School before being promoted to the manager’s position in January 2014. The key responsibilities of that role included overseeing the behaviour strategies for all students, developing targets/coping strategies to reduce behaviours of concern, training and data analysis.

In March 2017 Dan joined Cavendish Care in the Behavioural Support Specialist’s role; he will be managing a caseload of behaviour referrals, supporting/advising staff on behavioural issues, conducting functional assessments and leading Positive Behaviour Support, Autism & Communication trainings.

“I have a Level 5 in Health and Social Care and have worked in the Care Industry since 2006 in the fields of autism, epilepsy, complex learning disabilities and adult social care.

I began my career in the Care Industry in 2006 as a support worker caring for children and young adults with epilepsy, autism and complex learning disabilities. Over the past 12 years I have held various roles in the care industry from support worker, team leader and assistant manager. In 2017 I joined Cavendish Care in my current post as Residential Care Manager for Briar House.

I’m also a PROACT-SCIPr-UK trainer. In this role I have the opportunity to train staff within the Cavendish Care Group by giving them a positive learning experience and pass on lots of my knowledge. It’s always gratifying to see the theoretical side of my training sessions being put to practice within the houses and to see the positive impact this training has had on both the staff and clientele.”

“I have been working in the care industry since I left school, I started working with the elderly and then moved to supporting adults with learning disabilities. Through these years I have worked in various roles from support worker, senior, trainer, assistant manager and I have also completed my level 5 in Health and Social Care.

I started with Cavendish care 3 years ago as a registered manager and in February 2019 I was given a great opportunity to train to become a Makaton tutor.

I am very excited to bring these new skills into Cavendish care where it will benefit our staff team and clients.”

I was born in Jamaica and moved to the United Kingdom in 1997. I joined the care industry because of personal experiences and my love and passion for caring for others. 

Working within this industry I have been encouraged to study and acquired my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Children and Adults.

I have been working in Health and Social care for the past 20 years, starting as a support worker and working my way up to become a Registered Care Home Manager.

Over the years I have worked in various services including, Nursing care, Dementia, Mental Health and now Learning Disabilities and Autism.

In 2016 I became Registered manager in a Residential care home in Horsham and joined Cavendish Care in 2017 as the Registered Manager of Roseleigh.   In 2019 I was given the opportunity to be a part of the growing training team at Cavendish. I welcomed this opportunity and was supported to gain the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (PTLLS). I then went on to take up further training and became a First Aid Instructor.

Today I continue to be the manager at Roseleigh and love my role as the Leader of this team supporting our clients, whilst at the same time, teaching others about First Aid.

I came to England from the Philippines in 2006. I have been working in the Health and Social Care industry for over a decade. I started working at Cavendish care in 2015 as an Assistant Manager, after just 3 months, an opportunity became available, and I became the Registered Manager at Cavendish House.

Since then, I have gained my NVQ level 5 in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care, and Level 3 Award in Education and Training (PTLLS). Cavendish Care saw my passion for teaching staff new skills and knowledge, so in addition to my substantive role, I became a Health and Safety and Fire Safety training instructor.

I always believe in the saying “ Tell me and I forget, Teach me and I may remember, Involve me and I learn.”

I started in the care sector after leaving university where I’d studied Psychology. What was planned as short-term role to gain experience before more studying turned into career! I was able to complete my Level 5 in Leadership in Health and Social Care and joined Cavendish in 2017 as a House Manager. As part of my role within the company the opportunity arose to become an Epilepsy trainer. I completed my Level 3 Award in Education and Training (PTLLS) in 2019 and have been working with Denise Robinson, the Healthcare Co-ordinator since to train our staff in how to support those with Epilepsy.

Epilepsy is a condition that often people have very little experience with, people are often not aware of the multiple types of seizure that a person may experience. For those new to care they may feel very anxious about supporting those with the condition because of these unknown elements. I am able to use my 10 years+ of working with people with epilepsy to provide staff with real world examples of the situations that they may be faced with and how best to manage them. This ensures that our staff feel confident in supporting our tenants whether it’s the first seizure they’ve witnessed, or they manage seizures on a daily basis.
